Product description

Safi Sarvi® – Organic biochar fertilizer is a sustainable solution that tackles soil degradation and enhances crop productivity in a circular economy model. Made from local crop residues like rice husks, this premium organic fertilizer undergoes a patented decentralized pyrolysis process to create biochar. Available in powdered or pelletized forms, Safi Sarvi® acts as both a basal or top-dress fertilizer and soil amendment, offering a range of benefits for various crops.

The biochar component of Safi Sarvi® plays a crucial role in neutralizing acidic soils, improving nutrient and moisture retention, enhancing microbial activity, and supporting healthier plant growth. By sequestering carbon-rich biochar into the soil, this solution not only improves soil health but also reduces farm input costs, increases crop yields, and boosts farmers' income. With a focus on low-capital, locally managed production units, Safi Sarvi® efficiently reaches rural areas, creating employment opportunities and strengthening food security in farm communities.

About the Company

Safi Organics is a Kenyan agri tech company founded in 2015 by Samuel Rigu and Joyce Kamande. The company uses patented, decentralized pyrolysis systems to convert crop residues—like rice husks—into Safi Sarvi®, a carbon rich, organic biochar fertilizer. This process not only improves soil health by neutralizing acidity and boosting microbial activity but also sequesters carbon in the soil for hundreds of years, reducing open-field burning by over 95%. Serving over 15,000 farmers across Kenya, Safi Organics has helped increase crop yields by around 30%, improve farmers’ income by approximately 50%, divert more than 30,000 tonnes of agricultural waste from burning, and sequester over 20,000 tonnes of CO₂. The company empowers rural communities through local fertilizer production, job creation, and soil regeneration—offering an affordable, sustainable alternative to expensive imported chemicals.
