AWG- Atmospheric Water Generators

Water can no longer be taken for granted

Aquifers are depleting, glaciers are retreating, rainfall is becoming unpredictable, and water sources around the world are becoming increasingly polluted. The consequences are already being felt by billions of people.

Fortunately, nature has another answer. The air around us holds water — in every climate, in every corner of the world. Atmospheric Water Generation harnesses that invisible abundance, turning humidity into clean, drinkable water with no river, no reservoir, and no rainfall required.

The question is no longer whether we can find new sources of water. We already have.

BIP brings together the world's best AWG solutions in one place.

EAWD

Energy and Water Development Corp. (EAWD) is a U.S.-registered green-technology engineering company focused on decentralized, self-sufficient water and energy infrastructure.

Its Aqua Infinita platform integrates Atmospheric Water Generation, Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage Systems, and an AI-enabled Energy Management System into one resilient behind-the-meter solution. The platform is designed to produce high-quality potable water while reducing dependence on groundwater extraction, municipal pipelines, desalination, long-distance water trucking, and unstable energy grids.

Aqua Infinita can be configured as an off-grid, hybrid, or grid-supported system, depending on site conditions and client requirements. In addition to water production, the solar and storage components can support surrounding facilities, critical loads, EV charging, or broader infrastructure needs.

EAWD offers flexible commercial models, including Water-as-a-Service, Energy-as-a-Service, and integrated platform-fee structures. Under these models, EAWD or its financing partners may finance, own, operate, and maintain the infrastructure, allowing qualified clients to access resilient water and energy systems with reduced or zero upfront CAPEX.

Key strengths

  • Integrated Water + Energy infrastructure platform
  • AWG + Solar PV + BESS + AI-enabled EMS
  • Off-grid, hybrid, or behind-the-meter configurations

SkyH20

SkyH2O is a US company with German engineering roots, specialising in industrial-grade AWG systems and turnkey water projects for commercial, industrial and government clients. Built around their flagship Maximus 4260™ unit, they operate as an Independent Water Provider, deploying scalable projects in water-stressed communities across the US and beyond.

SkyH20

Key strengths

SkyH2O's Maximus 4260™ is a modular, mobile, turnkey system with a 25+ year design life — units can be deployed individually or stacked into large-scale projects starting at 50,000 L/day with no upper limit. Their distributed water generation model ("Water 4.0") is designed to integrate directly with existing reservoir infrastructure, making adoption faster and cheaper than building new supply systems. They have live deployments in the US, including a station in Dickinson, TX, and are actively pursuing project-based global expansion.

Main sectors: Municipal, Commercial/Industrial, Government, Disaster relief, Hospitals. Project-based model targeting water districts and large facilities.

AirJoule Technologies

AirJoule Technologies is a US climate-technology company turning the atmosphere into a continuous water resource. Its platform uses metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) — the material class recognised by the 2025 Nobel Prize in Chemistry — to capture water vapour from ambient air and produce pure, PFAS-free distilled water. A dual-chamber design keeps production continuous: one chamber captures moisture while the other releases it. AirJoule is scaling toward commercial deployment through partnerships with BASF, GE Vernova and Carrier Global Corporation, and its technology has been recognised by the US Department of Energy.

AirJoule Technologies

Key strengths

The defining feature is energy efficiency. Rather than relying on external power, the system recycles the heat of its own capture cycle — an approach the company describes as close to thermally neutral. The US Department of Energy has stated the technology uses up to 75% less electricity than conventional dehumidification and the lowest energy per litre of any competing technology developed to date.

In pilot tests, AirJoule reports energy savings of more than 10x versus alternative atmospheric water harvesting systems in arid conditions. The platform is refrigerant-free, works in both humid and dry climates, and produces dehumidified dry air as a useful by-product for cooling and HVAC systems.

How it works commercially

AirJoule sells integrated water-generation units, designed for industrial and commercial users — data centres, advanced manufacturing, agriculture and moisture control — where available waste heat keeps running costs low. The company has set out a longer-term ambition to reach consumers as well, though its current products are industrial in scale.

Flagship models

  • AirJoule Core — up to 250 litres/day of distilled water; holds indoor humidity as low as 30% RH; semi-automated.
  • AirJoule Prime — up to 2,000 litres/day; optimised for waste-heat systems; semi-automated.

GENAQ Technologies

GENAQ Technologies is a Spanish manufacturer that has been producing atmospheric water generators since 2008, now on its fourth product generation. Part of the Keyter Group — an industrial group with more than 30 years in HVAC and refrigeration — GENAQ makes drinking water by condensing humidity from ambient air using a thermodynamic refrigeration cycle with advanced electronic control and IoT monitoring. Units are designed and built in-house, operate on grid power, solar, wind or diesel, and produce mineralised drinking water through a triple filtration and treatment system, even in arid or polluted environments.
