Business Consultant – Business Connect
Daniel Miesel has served as a Business Consultant for Business Connect, advancing Household Water Treatment and Safe Storage (HWTS) solutions in East Africa. His focus has been on expanding distribution networks, increasing product adoption, and equipping local partners to improve access to clean water.
Founder and Director – Element Access International (EAI)
Daniel is the founder of Element Access International (EAI), leading WASH infrastructure projects across Kenya. These include borehole drilling, solar pumping, pipelines, elevated storage tanks, and community water points.
Innovation – AquaBot Systems
Daniel developed AquaBot, a solar-powered water kiosk that dispenses clean water 24/7 using prepaid tokens and digital revenue tracking. These kiosks improve service reliability and sustainability in underserved areas by automating operations.
Technology Consulting – SolarDew
As a consultant for SolarDew, Daniel supported the company’s entry into Kenya by identifying pilot sites, evaluating feasibility, and advising on deployment strategies for solar-thermal desalination systems.
Digital Tools – WASHapp & Remote Monitoring
Daniel also created WASHapp, a mobile platform connecting users with trusted WASH products and service providers. It features escrow payments, referral tracking, and logistics integration. He has implemented mobile-based surveys and monitoring tools to improve system performance and transparency.
Core Focus – Contextual Innovation
Daniel’s work focuses on translating global WASH technologies into solutions that fit the social, environmental, and operational realities of local communities—ensuring long-term adoption and impact.
How can I help you
I help organizations and investors in the water and sanitation space identify, deploy, and scale solutions that are practical, sustainable, and grounded in the realities of local contexts. Whether you're implementing infrastructure, launching new technology, or testing a social enterprise model, I work with you to ensure that your efforts align with real-world conditions, economic, environmental, and institutional, to deliver lasting impact.
My support often begins with strategic planning. I help assess market readiness, navigate regulatory environments, and understand user behavior, pricing sensitivities, and operational constraints. I can guide you in defining entry strategies, developing delivery models, and forming the right local partnerships for success.
For teams developing or introducing innovations, I offer field-level insight to help bridge the gap between design and deployment. I assist with pilot planning, adaptation of tools and systems to fit local usage patterns, and establishing measurable indicators to track performance and gather feedback before scaling.
For funders and investors, I bring clarity around risk, feasibility, and sustainability. I help evaluate opportunities, structure investment models with realistic cost recovery pathways, and craft messaging that clearly communicates the value and impact of your initiatives.
I also support long-term viability through capacity building, training, and the development of localized systems for monitoring, maintenance, and accountability. My goal is to reduce dependence while strengthening local ownership and governance.
Every setting is unique, and success depends on how well solutions respond to the specific needs, challenges, and dynamics of that environment. If you’re looking to move from concept to context-appropriate implementation, I bring the experience, structure, and insight needed to turn innovation into real-world impact.
