Product description

traceless® Biomaterial Pellets for Paper Coating offer a revolutionary solution to the environmental challenges posed by traditional plastic coatings in the packaging industry. These innovative pellets are specifically designed to coat paper products, providing a sustainable and eco-friendly alternative to conventional plastic coatings. Made entirely from agricultural by-product biomass, traceless® pellets are not only plastic-free but also fully compostable, aligning with the growing demand for environmentally friendly packaging solutions.

By utilizing agricultural waste as a feedstock, traceless® pellets contribute to reducing the environmental impact of packaging materials. These pellets enhance the barrier properties of paper, such as moisture resistance, while maintaining recyclability and home-compostability. They seamlessly integrate with existing paper coating technologies, allowing for a smooth transition to sustainable packaging without the need for significant process modifications.

Developed in collaboration with industry leaders like Mondi, traceless® Biomaterial Pellets for Paper Coating represent a significant step towards meeting regulatory and consumer demands for sustainable packaging alternatives. The coated paper produced with traceless® pellets performs comparably to traditional plastic-coated materials but undergoes natural degradation in just 2–9 weeks under normal composting conditions, leaving no harmful residues behind.

This innovative solution not only reduces resource dependency and lowers the end-of-life environmental impact but also supports the transition to a circular material economy in the packaging sector.

About the Company

traceless is a German circular-bioeconomy scale-up founded in 2020 in Hamburg by Anne Lamp and Johanna Baare. Using patented processing technology, traceless transforms agricultural plant residues into plastic-free, home-compostable biomaterials that mimic the functionality of conventional plastics without harmful chemicals. The company is building its first large-scale production facility, set to begin operations in 2025, with €36.6 million in funding and support from EU and German government programs. Committed to a zero-waste future, traceless aims to help solve plastic pollution by offering regenerative, carbon-conscious materials that naturally decompose within 2–9 weeks under ambient conditions and integrate seamlessly into existing processing systems. This approach preserves biomass resources, eliminates reliance on fossil-derived plastics, and fosters circular manufacturing—supporting global sustainability goals.
