Product description

Biosteel® Fiber is a revolutionary bio-based material developed by AMSilk, utilizing recombinant spider silk proteins produced through precision fermentation with plant-based feedstocks. Launched in 2015, this innovative material offers exceptional performance characteristics, surpassing steel in strength-to-weight ratio and biodegrading fully under aerobic or marine conditions without releasing harmful microplastics.

Designed for a variety of applications including high-end textiles, technical apparel, medical sutures, and composite materials in automotive and aerospace industries, Biosteel® Fiber combines luxury, durability, and sustainability. It is vegan and cruelty-free, providing hygroscopic and bacteriostatic properties that enhance wearer comfort and hygiene.

In collaboration with industry leaders like adidas (Futurecraft Biofabric) and Airbus, AMSilk has demonstrated the scalability of production for Biosteel® Fiber. As an ISO 9001 certified material, it promotes eco-friendly supply chains and facilitates the transition from synthetic polymers to advanced biomaterials. By paving the way for a circular economy in high-performance sectors, Biosteel® Fiber is driving innovation towards a more sustainable future.
