Product description

AmphiCare® is a next-generation biosurfactant lineup developed by AmphiStar, tailored for personal care applications. It is the first of its kind, utilizing upcycled microbial biosurfactants derived from biobased waste and side streams as an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional surfactants.

Designed to provide gentle and effective cleansing, AmphiCare® offers superior performance in various formulations such as hand soaps, shampoos, facial cleansers, makeup removers, moisturizers, body lotions, and wet wipes. By maintaining the skin's natural oils and reducing irritation, this innovative solution caters to the growing demand for sustainable personal care products.

Free from sulfates, palm oil, and 1,4-dioxane, the formula is biodegradable, non-toxic, and certified as non-irritant to the eye area. Through a cradle-to-gate life-cycle analysis, AmphiCare® has been proven to significantly decrease environmental impact, with 50–70% lower CO₂ emissions compared to conventional surfactants. Additionally, it boasts 3 times lower CO₂ emissions, 7 times less land use, 4 times reduced resource consumption, and 6 times lower impact on human health.

AmphiCare® embodies a circular, high-mildness biosurfactant solution that combines performance and sustainability to deliver eco-responsible personal care products.

About the Company

AmphiStar is a Belgian biotechnology company pioneering the production and commercialization of microbial biosurfactants made entirely from biobased waste and side streams. Using a patented, mild bioprocess based on microbial fermentation, the company transforms locally sourced biomass—including food waste and agricultural byproducts—into high-performance, eco-friendly sophorolipid biosurfactants. These products are fully biodegradable, sulfate-free, non-toxic, and avoid reliance on fossil feedstocks, palm oil, deforestation, or direct land use. Their advanced platform offers a range of uniform, customizable biosurfactants for applications across personal care, home care, industrial cleaners, textiles, and agrochemicals. AmphiStar’s technology supports the circular economy by converting waste into sustainable, high-quality ingredients that empower customers to meet their sustainability goals with affordability, safety, and consistent performance.
